Every wine tells a story, shaped by the land, the people and the decisions made from vineyard to cellar. At Allesverloren, winemaking is guided by generations of experience, combining time-honoured techniques with modern innovation to produce wines that express the distinctive character of the Swartland.
From harvest through to maturation, every step is carefully considered to preserve the purity of the fruit and allow the estate's unique terroir to shine through in every bottle.
Winemaking Philosophy
At Allesverloren, great wine begins with exceptional fruit. The philosophy is simple: nurture the vineyards with care and respect the fruit in the cellar. By combining classic fermentation vessels with modern technology and scientific monitoring, the focus remains on allowing the wines to express the exceptional character of the estate's unique terroir.
Every decision is made with purpose, ensuring that each bottle remains a true reflection of the land, the vintage and the dedication behind every harvest.
The Cellar
The Allesverloren cellar is where tradition and innovation work side by side. Traditional open fermenter tanks, long associated with the estate's renowned port-style wines, stand alongside modern stainless steel tanks, bringing together proven techniques and contemporary precision.
Every stage of the winemaking process is carefully managed, from fermentation through to blending, ageing and maturation. Barrel selection is approached with equal care, as each choice plays an important role in developing the wine's structure, texture and aromatic complexity.
While the vineyards rest through the winter months, the cellar comes to life. It is here that wines are blended, refined and patiently matured, allowing every vintage to develop its full potential before it is released.

Meet the Team
Every decision at Allesverloren is guided by the people behind the wines. From vineyard to cellar, Fanie and Danielle Malan work together to ensure that each vintage reflects the estate's commitment to quality, consistency and the distinctive character of the Swartland.
Fanie Malan
Fanie Malan's deep-rooted dedication to farming and viticulture ensures that the land nourishing their vines will thrive for generations to come. Committed to sustainability, he embraces eco-friendly practices, working to minimise the farm's carbon footprint so every bottle is a step toward a more sustainable future.
The son of Danie and Juanita Malan, Fanie stepped into the role of viticulturist in 2019, following a long-standing tradition of excellence. With a childhood spent on the farm, he has a deep, personal connection to the land. His education in agriculture and winemaking at CPUT Wellington, paired with hands-on experience alongside his father, has strengthened his ability to match varieties with their ideal terroir.
His passion for the land is evident in every bottle. With a personality as jovial and optimistic as his parents', Fanie is steering this Swartland landmark toward an even brighter future.
Daniëlle Malan
The legacy of Allesverloren runs in Daniëlle’s veins. As the latest Malan generation of several that have directed the farm, she was the ideal choice to be marketing manager. Daniëlle was raised on Allesverloren, the youngest of three children. She studied marketing and was appointed manager of online wine sales in 2020.
As with many wine farms, the Covid pandemic dramatically shifted sales online and Danielle found herself in the deep end. Despite the uncharted territory and steep learning curve, she excelled. The ensuing years launched Allesverloren into a new phase with demanding responsibilities and Daniëlle once again rose to the occasion. Key to her success has been a warm, generous and energetic demeanour that has become a Malan trademark.
Today, she keeps a firm hand on the tiller, embracing her task as custodian of the stories of Allesverloren.
